"STAINS OF INJUSTICE"

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights : "stains of injustice"
DESIGN STATEMENT
In this poignant visual narrative, the creative process serves as a visceral exploration of the egregious violations against the principles laid out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The application of red paint, symbolizing the stark reality of bloodshed, is a deliberate choice that drips across the poster, leaving an indelible mark. This haunting imagery confronts viewers with the harsh consequences of unfair practices around the world.

The fingerprints layered over the red paint carry a profound message, representing the human touch and the personal impact of these injustices. Each fingerprint tells a story—of lives affected, of voices silenced, and of identities lost. The intentional use of red, associated with both life and sacrifice, compels viewers to confront the harsh truths that persist despite the global commitment to human rights.

The type, set justified, adds another layer to the composition. Words are spaced out, some in sharp focus while others blur into the background. This typographic choice mirrors the uneven distribution of justice, where some issues are brought into sharp relief while others remain obscured or neglected. The deliberate arrangement prompts viewers to engage actively with the text, deciphering the nuanced narrative and emphasizing the selective attention often given to human rights concerns.

The act of painting over the poster becomes a metaphor for the attempts to conceal, distort, or erase the evidence of these violations. However, the stains persist, resisting efforts to be silenced or forgotten. The visceral nature of this process encourages viewers to engage emotionally with the subject matter, fostering a deep connection to the urgency of addressing human rights abuses and upholding the principles enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. "Stains of Injustice" challenges us to acknowledge the reality of ongoing struggles and advocates for a world where the promise of human rights is fulfilled for all.
